Boy meets Girl

Androgyous styles have been hitting it big in the last year – both on the Catwalks and with Celebrities - and the newest take on the trend is to adapt it for the Summer months. Think skimpy dresses teamed with oversized boyfriend blazers or suit shorts, waistcoats and oversized shirts. The key to nailing this trend is to keep a distinct womanly twist – the clothes might be ‘male’, but the silhouette should be feminine. The best ways of doing this are by choosing high-waisted short styles that can be belted at the waist, or dresses that just skim the edge of an oversized jacket. Pair it with a cute pair of heels or mannish flats and you’re good to go. The great thing is, this trend can be used in so many ways; from a smart take on work or occasion-wear, to a new take on red-carpet glamour, a casual way to dress-down when going out, to the girly glamour of Gossip Girl’s Serena Van Der Woodsen – fashion icon and huge advocate of the boyfriend blazer.

At Wanderland, we’re giving the trend a Spring-like twist by choosing paler hues and lighter fabrics, such as linen. We’ve got vintage blouses a-plenty, and these look perfect paired with oversized waistcoats and tucked into shorts or short skirts.
